We may take people up on the offer after we return to Fargo. We have family in Fargo staying at our home with Brandon and our pets. We feel blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives offering prayers and support. We have received many calls and texts from family and friends wanting to provide support. We are asking for no visitors at this time, as low stimulation and rest will help her continue to improve. At this time, Lauren will need rest and as little stimulation as possible.

We would like to thank everyone for all of the prayers, love and support during this difficult time. We will continue to try and update everyone when able. Lauren has come a long way in the past several days but please keep her in your prayers as she is still not out of the woods. She will at some point in the next couple of days be changed over to different medication and the heparin drip will be discontinued. She was moved out of the ICU yesterday and continues on IV heparin. She is now able to talk and move all of her extremities. Lauren has continued to improve over the last couple of days. A repeat scan 16 hours heparin was started revealed no changes. There was however, concerns as heparin could have potentially caused the bleed in the frontal lobe to worsen. She was started on a heparin drip to prevent the clot from growing. Lauren had additional scans repeated at Mayo which confirmed the previous scans. The clot caused increase pressure in the other vessels in her brain and she unfortunately suffered a bilateral bleed in the frontal lobe of her brain. An MRI later in the day revealed she had a clot in the sagittal sinus in the brain. We noticed a change in Lauren’s responsiveness on Sunday morning.
The headaches had not improved on Sunday and she was continued on medication to manage the headaches and nausea from the severe headaches. A CT can of her brain did not reveal any changes. She received an iron infusion on Saturday and Sunday she received a blood transfusion. 31 for low hemoglobin, low iron, and severe headaches with nausea and vomiting. Lauren was hospitalized at the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo on Dec.
